A tragic diving accident in Manx waters at the weekend has claimed the life of a 41- year old man.
He was rushed ashore after getting into difficulties off the coast at Port Erin, and it's understood desparate efforts were made by a fellow diver to revive him.
An investigation into the accident is now underway.
The victim, from off-island, was among a diving group on a weekend visit to the Isle of Man.
The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon and a rescue operation launched by the Liverpool Coastguard.
The diver was brought from waters 15 miles west of Port Erin back to shore by boat.
It's understood a doctor was among the diving group and he tried to resuscitate his colleague, but to no avail.
Equipment used by the diving party has been seized for examination and statements are being taken from members of the group.
A close relative of the 41 year old has arrived on the Island to liaise with the authorities here. The coroner has been informed.
