From May 1, foreign nationals applying for citizenship will be tested on what they know about the Isle of Man.
It's in line with a move by the United Kingdom government introduced in November last year.
The questions will be based on the 'Life in the United Kingdom' handbook with an Isle of Man supplement in recognition of our separate identity.
For people whose mother tongue isn't English, they will be required to attend a language and citizenship course at the Isle of Man College.
