Island team the toast of the trams

Island residents are being encouraged to line the promenade tomorrow evening to toast the victorious Commonwealth Games team.

The competitors, including gold medallist Mark Cavendish and bronze medallists David Walton and Trevor Boyles, will be paraded on a horse tram.

They leave the Sea Terminal just after six and will arrive at the Villa Marina, ahead of the fourth Sports Awards evening around half an hour later.

Chairman of the Sports Council, Geoff Karran, says it gives the Island the opportunity to say 'well done':
