Public meeting in Laxey this evening

by isleofman.com 19th April 2006
Laxey ratepayers will this evening (Wednesday) have the opportunity to voice their opinions over plans to re-develop a recreational area in the village.
A public’s meeting being called to outline plans for the scheme.
Although there’s much support for improving the site in Glen Road, some residents are concerned what affect borrowing four hundred thousand pounds for the project will have on their rates.
Chairman of Laxey Commissioners, David Owens, acknowledges it would lead to a small rate increase but, while he understands concerns, hopes the proposed scheme will receive sufficient support.
The meeting gets underway at the village primary school at 7.30pm.
