Volunteers aiming to go flat-out for charity

by isleofman.com 20th April 2006
The term "flat out" will take on a whole new meaning for the Southern 100 course this Mayday.

A team of volunteers will complete at least one lap of the famous circuit, pushing a bed.

They're aiming to raise money for Robert Owen House, a centre in Liverpool, which accommodates the families of heart patients.

More than 1,000 Manx patients attend heart appointments at Broad Green every year.

Brian Whitehead is the secretary of the Friends of Robert Owen House.

He says they're aiming to raise another ?50,000 for the cause over the next 18 months and so far the response from the public has been very good:

If you want to make a donation to Robert Owen House you can ring Mr Whitehead on 622 314 or email walkathon@manx.net
