Old Boys relegated after 25 years in top flight

by isleofman.com 20th April 2006
Old Boys have been relegated from the Manx First Division.

They were defeated 3-1 at home by second placed Peel to lose their top flight status – something they’ve held since 1981 and just nine years after they were league champions.

The home side had taken an interval lead through Craig Stewart but second half goals from Marc Kelly and Kevin Megson (two) caused Old Boys heartache and kept alive Peel’s faint title hopes.

Elsewhere, reigning champions St George’s thrashed Rushen United 5-0 with a Connor Doyle hat-trick to further cement third place.

The first ever competitive match was played at Union Mills’ new facility at Garey Mooar on Tuesday evening – but it wasn’t good news for the home side.

Corinthians won the top of the table clash 4-2 to move to within a point of the leaders and they have a game in hand.

Foxdale 3-4 Michael

OSA Combination One

Marown 3-9 Laxey
