Ceremonial cross vandalised

by isleofman.com 20th April 2006
Police are hunting for vandals who damaged a large ceremonial cross in Port Erin.

The cross is used by the Methodist, Anglican and Catholic churches on Good Friday, when congregations gather together to worship in the Shoprite Car Park.

The damage occurred on Easter Monday, when the cross bar was taken. It hasn’t yet been recovered.

Reverend Kath Corkish explained the cross held a special significance for local churches.

If you have any information on the damage, you can contact Port Erin police on 832 222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
