It was a case of David and Goliath at the recently held Manx Classic 2006.
The three day event, organised by the Manx Motor Racing Club, finished on Saturday.
Overall winnner was local entrant Paul Dangerfield from Port St Mary, driving a tiny Caterham R500 sports car.
Paul beat much larger and more powerful cars such as Jaguars, Ford GTD 40s, and Chevrolet Camaros driven by some very experienced competitors.
Event secretary Bill Welden says the Classic had been very successful, there had been no accidents and the spectators had loved it. He also thanked the co-operation of Island residents and the Government, plus the help received from local marshals clubs.
It is now hoped the Manx Classic can be re-instated as a permanent fixture on the Island's motorsport calender, and plans are already being made for next year's event.
