The transport minister has faced a punishing bombardment of questions in Tynwald, over his department's public consultation exercise on a possible all Island speed limit.
Phil Braidwood was criticised over the nature of a radio advertising campaign, described by some members as emotive and prejudiced.
Graham Bell reports (text of attached audio file):
West Douglas MHK Dominic Delaney alleged that additional copies of a questionaire, distributed by the department of transport, were not available at post offices.
The minister was also criticised for giving the work of collating the submissions to the Isle of Man Post Office.
Mr Braidwood withstood aggressive and angry questioning for the best part of an hour but, far from being battered and bruised, he came away believing that supporting his department's stance on speed limits was still the preferred way to reduce road deaths.
He is also standing by his department's advertising campaign, although he would not be drawn on the percentage for or against speed limits that would clinch the issue.
