DoT speed limit campaign could backfire - claim

by isleofman.com 25th April 2006
The public consultation exercise on a possible all-Island speed limit could backfire on the department of transport, according to the chief minister. Donald Gelling says the advertising campaign supporting the process has got people talking about the issue, but the strong pro-speed limit stance, described in Tynwald as "emotive and prejudiced", has angered some (audio file attached): Mr Gelling (pictured) says whatever the outcome of the public consultation the question of whether there should be an all-Island speed limit will ultimately be decided by Tynwald, following due consideration by the Council of Ministers.
