Strategic Plan shelved

The Masterplan for development in the Isle of Man will NOT be progressed until AFTER the general election.

The Strategic Plan covers the 'big picture', outlining the principles for housing and transport, island-wide.

A series of Local Plans are then drawn-up, in line with those guiding principles.

But the Inspector in charge of reviewing it says more work needs to be done on the Strategic Plan - so it's back to the drawing board.

Local Government and Environment Minister John Rimington (pictured) rejected the suggestion it served no useful purpose:
