The message comes after a blaze at a house in Ramsey, which is suspected to have been caused by discarded smoking materials.
James Davis reports (text of attached audio file): .
The fire took hold in the bedroom of a house in Sea Mount, Ramsey shortly before 10am on Thursday.
Two fire engines were dispatched to the blaze, and four firefighters used high pressure jets to put out the flames.
The first floor of the property suffered smoke damage, although the fire was contained in the bedroom.
A spokesman for the Fire Service said the suspected cause is discarded smoking material in a wastepaper bin and he is reminding people to make sure everything is stubbed out thoroughly.
