Silver for Gerrard in Track and Field Championships

by isleofman.com 29th April 2006
Manx Harrier Keith Gerrard produced a superb run at The British University’s Track and Field Championships at The Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

Competing in his first 10,000 metres on the track, he gained an excellent silver medal in a time of 30 minutes, 30 seconds.

Gerrard, who recently received a BA Connect Sports Scholarship, was representing St. Mary’s College in the first final to take place in the three-day event.

The race was won by his college team mate Matt Ashton, who crossed the line with a four second advantage.

Gerrard was pleased with his first attempt at the 26 lap race and also to have clipped 51 seconds off the time he set in the Easter Festival Road Race in Port Erin.
