Return of CleanSweep?

The question of litter in the countryside was picked up by Middle MHK Martyn Quayle in the Keys this morning

He wanted to know if the Department of the Environment were concerned about litter despoiling the Manx landscape, and if so whether consideration would be given to a campaign to clean the Island up such as the successful 'Clean Sweep' initiative run several years ago

Minister John Rimington said it was a matter which had been under active consideration by the infrastructure and environment sub-committee of the Council of Ministers for some time. A litter strategy steering committee was set up last year under the chairmanship of Dudley Butt MLC, which was adopting up a multi agency approach:
