Onchan Cross presented to Jean Davie

by isleofman.com 2nd May 2006
An Onchan resident has been recognised for her work in the community.

Jean Davie, a long-time art teacher at St Ninian’s High School and later the Isle of Man College, has been awarded the Onchan Community Cross.

It is presented every two years to a recipient selected from residents to someone considered to have added to the quality of life.

The award is a shield depicting one of the Onchan crosses.

Miss Davie’s father had a cobblers’ business in two cottages on Main Road and she uses the building as a studio to create her art work.

Award trustees made the presentation at a reception in the commissioners' offices (pictured).
