Two Island gymnasts from the Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence travelled to the Cooks Moors Leisure Centre in Birmingham last weekend for the National finals of the club grades 2 & 1 competition as members of the North West regional teams.
Christine Stoddart in grade 1 and Natasha McCormac in grade 2 both gave their all for the region, Natasha having only been drafted into the competing team at the 11th hour following injury to one of the other team members.
Both girls finished well up the individual placings, but in the team round-up it was Natasha who scooped the honours with an overall team bronze medal - the team finishing less than a point behind the South West team and not far behind the South East in a very tight competition. Christine’s grade 1 team came in ninth from the 12 regions that competed in both grades.
Christine was as ever steady on bars with 8.8 for a top half finish on this apparatus, Natasha staying consistent all the way through with her highest score being an 8.7 on beam.
