Marown school crossing dispute

A school crossing patrol officer says he can't understand why the Department of Transport hasn't sorted out the situation for school crossings by Marown School.

Michael Hunt has been suspended from his role as a lollipop man across the main A1 Peel Road, as he believed it wasn't safe for children to cross the Glen Darragh Road without his assistance.

However the Department told him he mustn't do this, due to insurance and safety concerns, as Glen Darragh Road is not a designated crossing point.

Mr Hunt says if the Department designated the road there wouldn't be a problem:
