Manxman steamship attacked by vandals

The future of the former Steam Packet vessel the 'Manxman' is looking increasingly bleak.

The steamship, currently docked in Sunderland, has been attacked by vandals.

Copper pipework has been ripped out, damaging the engine room of the turbine steamer and causing her to list.

The 'Manxman' was launched in 1955 and is the oldest surviving steamer of her type in the world.

Pallion Engineering on Wearside had hoped to restore the vessel, but she may now have to be sold for scrap.

Vice President of the Manxman Steamship Company Adrian Sweeney says Pallion can't be held to blame:
