No chapel at new prison

Chapels and prayer rooms are usually incorporated in large-scale new public buildings, such as airports and hospitals.

But it has emerged the new prison at Jurby (pictured) will NOT have a chapel as such.

That is in large part due to the Isle of Man Freethinkers group, which has campaigned for a secular, non-religious 'quiet room' instead.

The group's Muriel Garland says the idea reflects current trends in society:
