Poison gas emergency at reservoir

by isleofman.com 5th May 2006
Emergency services were called to an Island reservoir yesterday after a chlorine alarm went off inside a building there.

It was at West Baldwin yesterday (Thursday) morning.

Two pumps and specialist chemical protection equipment was taken to the site. Crews in protective suits went in and shut down the chlorine system. The building was ventilated but still found to have high levels of the gas present. Fresh crews then went in with detection equipment and found the building to be clear of gas.

The whole incident lasted about two hours.
