DHSS 'not afraid' of report findings

The Department of Health and Social Security is not afraid of scrutiny.

That's according to Minister, Steve Rodan in response to the publication of the Childcare Inquiry report.

The 400-page document highlights a number of areas of concern within the Social Services division.

Mr Rodan acknowledges a series of failings in implementing systems of care, but says the process of putting things right has already started, and will continue in the weeks and months ahead.

The report contains 132 recommendations, one of which calls for an external independent Government body to inspect Social Services.
