Families' anger at police revelations

The families of murdered teenagers George Green and Samantha Barton say they welcome the findings of a public inquiry into the events leading up to the deaths.

But both sets of relatives walked out of the hearing as chairman Mark Everall QC made his findings public.

Mr Everall said nobody except Peter Newbery was directly responsible for the murders in February 2002 but said police missed a chance to arrest Newbery weeks earlier, sparking fury from George’s father Eddie Green.

He shouted and swore as he left the Strathallan Suite where the final report was released (audio file attached):
