DoT wants to buy Parade Street site for ?8 million

by isleofman.com 5th May 2006
The Department of Transport wants to spent ?8 million on a plot of land near North Quay, Douglas.

The Parade Street site is currently owned by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company and is used for car parking.

There is no comment as yet on what the DoT plans to do with the land, but Transport Minister Phil Braidwood (pictured) is expected to explain what it has in mind in Tynwald later this month.

Any development in the area would be likely to take up all the car parking space and there is some speculation the department may be looking to build a multi-storey car park on the site.
