Mansell is chairman in Castletown

by isleofman.com 5th May 2006
Castletown Commissioners have a new chairman.

Tony Mansell takes over the reins with Paul Kennaugh as his deputy.

Kevin Weir had been elected chairman for a second successive term earlier this week.

However, members’ attention was then drawn to a meeting held in 2004 when the board provisionally agreed no member could hold the office more than once in a four year period.

When those minutes were found, Mr Weir called an emergency meeting on Wednesday night to resolve the matter.

Mr Weir stepped down immediately as chairman and the new vote saw Mr Mansell elected into office with Mr Kennaugh as the vice-chairman.

Mr Weir congratulated both men and thanked the board for his support during his year in office.
