Police and fire services are investigating the cause of a blaze in Ramsey this morning (Mon 8/05)

Mannix Court in Ramsey had to be evacuated after a fire in the premises.

It was discovered on the ground floor by a resident of the premises who flagged down a passing police car. Two officers called the fire services and helped residents out of the building.

Four tenders attended the incident and firement using breathing apparatus and an extending ladder unit quickly extinguished the blaze, but not before extensive damage had been caused to the building.

Two people were treated at the scence for minor injuries.

Evacuees were cared for by Civil Defence volunteers in a nearby building.
