There is a new name this morning (Tues) for a group of Manx drivers who want to be part of the solution to safer roads rather than be seen as part of the problem.
SID - or Safer Island Driving - was constituted officially last night at a public meeting in Douglas and comprises a number of individuals and groups, opposed to the Department of Transport's view that a national speed would be a good thing.
The DoT speed consultation process was debated at length, along with a raft of other road safety measures that members WOULD be happy to support, to reduce accidents.
Newly elected Treasurer Mark Wilson is a Company Director from Ballasalla:
The next 'SID' meeting is again at the Outback on Barrack Street, Douglas at 7pm on Monday 22nd May, and all are welcome.
