Householders are being warned against giving money to a man claiming to be collecting for a Russian charity.
A man called at a house on Summerhill Road in Onchan on Tuesday lunchtime, the occupier was suspicious and asked if he had a permit from the Manx authorities.
The man said he didn't, and then walked in the direction of Summerhill Road and towards Douglas promenade. No money was handed over.
He is described as between 18 and 20 years old, about 6 feet tall, of slim build, with short blonde hair. He spoke with a Russian or similar accent.
