Dog rescue

by isleofman.com 11th May 2006
A warning has gone out to dog owners to keep control of their pets when walking close to cliff tops.

It comes after Douglas Coastguard Rescue Team were called out last night (Wed) to rescue a dog which was on a ledge a third of the way down the 150 foot cliffs at the rear of the Manx Petroleums Depot on South Quay.

It's the third time in less than three weeks that the team have been called out in similar circumstances, and they say whilst the dog's owner was quite correct to call the Coastguard rather than attempt a rescue himself, owners should keep a close eye on their animals when walking close to cliffs.

The 15 year old pet was recovered by a Cliff Rescue officer, and was unharmed by its adventure.
