Channel Islanders tour waste sites

Senior political leaders from the Channel Islands have been touring two of the Isle of Man's biggest waste disposal projects - to see if the idea would work for them.

Ministers from Jersey and Guernsey have been shown the energy-from-waste plant at Richmond Hill and the Meary Veg sewage treatment works.

The Channel Islands are considering building their own incinerator - as their current landfill has a lifespan of only eight years from now.

The delegation has seen for itself the pros and cons of both projects - on what's been a valuable chance to share experience with the Manx.

Guernsey Chief Minister Laurie Morgan was impressed with what he saw:
