Lights for controversial crossing

The Department of Transport will be installing traffic lights at a problematic crossing area in Marown.

According to Minister Phil Braidwood, his staff are assessing where the poles and road markings will go on both the A1 road and the Glen Darragh road.

Lollipop-man Michael Hunt, who was employed to cross children on the west side of the A1, was suspended by the DOT for crossing people on the Glen Darragh road because it isn't a designated point.

MHK for the area of Middle, Martyn Quayle, says the crossing was agreed in principle last June, but didn't go ahead due to practical problems.

He's pleased safety in the area will soon be improved:
