A verdict of misadventure has been recorded at the inquest into the death of a Manx Grand Prix competitor.
51 year old Tim Johnson died during the 2005 Junior Lightweight Classic on Wednesday 31st August.
A post mortem revealed Mr Johnson had died from massive blunt force trauma after he came off his 350cc Aer Macchi motorbike at the Black Hut.
Mr Johnson, an experienced rider, was behind competitor 78, Harvey Swetnam and was one of the race leaders.
According to Mr Swetnam he had been experiencing difficulties with his Seeley machine and as he approached the left hand bend, he realised he wasn't going to make it and managed to bring the bike to a stop on a parking area on the right hand side of the road.
Witnesses says Mr Johnson had been travelling much faster than Mr Swetnam and looked to be manouvering around the other competitor on the right hand side.
This took him into the path of Mr Swetnam, and witnesses say at this point, after trying to brake, Mr Johnson ejected from his bike and hit an unprotected sign post.
Mr Moyle offered his condelences to the family and partner of Mr Johnson, and praised the work of the marshals at the scene.
