Government to buy Steam Packet plot?

by isleofman.com 13th May 2006
Tynwald will next week be asked to approve spending ?8 million on a plot of land near North Quay in Douglas.

The Department of Transport wants to buy the Parade Street site, owned by the Steam Packet, to use for car parking.

If members vote against the move, the land is likely to be purchased by a private developer.

Transport Minister Phil Braidwood is hopeful the request will receive sufficient support.
