World Cup Pub warning

by isleofman.com 15th May 2006
Those behind the drink-fuelled disturbances on Friday could find themselves banned form all Island pubs during the World Cup.

Under an initiative set up by the Pubwatch Scheme, anybody causing trouble on licensed premises in the run-up to the tournament faces a red car, stopping them watching games in pubs.

Police said Friday was their busiest day for two years with more than 40 arrests.

Earle Law of the Trafalgar Hotel says although Friday’s trouble wasn’t football-related, the scheme will look into the incidents, taking action where necessary.
