Horse crusade

A former Isle of Man vet is bringing his crusade to end the abuse of horses and donkeys in the developing world, to the Manx people.

Bill Swann, who had a vet's practice in Onchan, is now Director of the Brooke, a leading charity for protecting equine animals abroad.

Tonight he'll give a talk on the charity's vision at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas.

Bill will tell the audience he hopes they'll develop the skills and resources to make a major impact on the problem in developing countires.

The charity's Niki Austin says in the worst cases, the livelihoods of up to 20 people are based on the work on just one animal:
