Fair trading guide published

A new booklet from the Office of Fair Trading could help you find a better builder.

The guide gives advice on how to select tradesmen to carry out home improvements while avoiding the pitfalls that can await the unwary.

Much of the advice is common sense, says chief officer Ken Kinrade, but anybody planning work will find it useful.

He says disputes between householders and tradesmen makes up the bulk of the OFT's work on consumer complaints.
