The well known finance house PricewaterhouseCoopers has been chosen to act as external consultant in the review of DHSS funding.
The review is being carried out by a working group under the auspices of the Social Policy Committee of the Council of Ministers as the first of a two-pronged exercise which is also looking for longer term funding of the DHSS.

PricewaterhouseCoopers will undertake an immediate review of the DHSS's current financial situation with the aim of recommending proposals to achieve a financial balance in the 2006/07 financial year by the end of June.
The firm will also work with the Department to implement the financial plan, which it is hoped can be concluded by the beginning of October. All the work will be carried out by the Government and Public Sector Unit of Pricewaterhouse Coopers which is based in the UK and the cost is estimated at ?200,000.
It is hoped this can be recouped by savings across the Department.
