A member of Tynwald who has analysed deaths on the Island's roads since 1948 has concluded speed limits are not the answer.
Dudley Butt, MLC, looked at the figures after it was suggested during debates that numbers of deaths had increased in recent years.
He found out the average number of fatalities during the whole period was ten per annum, but only eight a year in the five full years since the start of 2001.
