No plans for old courthouse

by isleofman.com 19th May 2006
The Department of Local Government and the Environment says it doesn’t know what is to become of the old Douglas Courthouse.

Minister John Rimington says the registered building on Athol Street was the subject of a planning application to partially demolish and rebuild the landmark, but no work has been carried out yet.

He was giving a written answer to a question in Tynwald from South Douglas MHK Adrian Duggan this week about what plans there are for the building.

Mr Rimington told him DLGE sold the site in 1997 and the department doesn’t know what the current owner intends to do with it.
