Care workers should be locally trained

by isleofman.com 20th May 2006
Ayre MHK Eddie Teare (pictured) says he wants to see more care workers trained in the Island rather than being brought in from elsewhere.

In the House of Keys this week, he will ask for details about relocation packages for social workers to get an idea of how much it costs as opposed to the costs of on-Island training.

He’ll quiz DHSS Minister Steve Rodan on the issue on Tuesday.

He says locally trained staff are less likely to leave the Island.
