Taxi survey halted

by isleofman.com 20th May 2006
The Department of Transport has ordered a survey team to halt their work looking into the taxi industry in the Island.

On Thursday, it emerged a team had been ringing cab companies without properly identifying themselves, sparking anger from operators.

Ken Ashcroft, the DoT’s network planning manager, says the company has been told to cease its activities while the department considers its position.

Before any more work takes place, the DoT says it will hold talks with the industry.

Mr Ashcroft says the Leeds-based firm had embarrassed the department.
