Grants to Strix questioned

by isleofman.com 20th May 2006
Questions about why the Department of Trade and Industry gave grants to Strix will be raised in the House of Keys on Tuesday.

North Douglas MHK John Houghton says he’s concerned cash was given to the firm for machinery despite the company’s troubles.

Last week Strix announced it would close its Malew manufacturing plant, moving production to Ramsey and losing 30 jobs.

Mr Houghton says he has concerns about why money was given to a company which is now shedding workers.
