Housing - shared equity plan

A Bill which aims to help people who live in local authority housing to be able to buy houses in the private sector has received its second reading in the House of Keys.

Peter Karran's Housing Co-ownership Bill would give the Department of Local Government the ability to devise a part equity mortgage scheme.

Mr Karran believes it would be a way forward for the Island's housing problem: (first clip)

Mr Karran says the Bill would provide a framework for the scheme, and the Department would have to formulate the regulations: (second clip)
