More work needed on beaches

There's still a long way to go, but we're getting there.

The verdict of Chief Minister, Donald Gelling, to the latest Good Beach Guide results.

The 2006 guide recommends two beaches this year, Derbyhaven and Gansey.

It's 100% improvement on last year, but 14 beaches around the Island have failed to reach the grade .

However, Mr Gelling says significant progress has been made, and he is confident things will continue to improve.
