Molyneux crashes out

by isleofman.com 1st June 2006
One of the Island's most famous TT stars was airlifted to hospital after an accident in this afternoon's practice session.

Sidecar lap record holder and multiple winner Dave Molyneux and passenger Craig Hallam crashed at Rhencullen.

Molyneux has sustained possible arm and chest injuries and Hallam possible friction burns.

Both were conscious when they were airlifted to hospital.

Problems with getting Marshals around the circuit led to a delay to the start of this afternoon's practice session.

490 are needed to provide line of sight around the Mountian Course.

Four fast response cars take officials to where they are needed, but the added demand for manpower has meant every practice session has been late getting underway.

The first bikes finally left the Grandstand 17 minutes late.

Conditions were pretty near perfect this afternoon, although a bit cloudy and blustery over the Mountain.

Guy Martin certainly seems to be gunning for his first T.T victory, his first lap was 126.79 miles-per-hour.

John McGuiness was out on his Superstock Machine first of all, and went round in 18 minutes, 30.08 seconds.

But it was the Superbike time everyone wanted to hear and it was 124.65 miles-per-hour, a time of 18 minutes, 09.67, so not pushing his record time too much.
