Students to attend Queen's birthday celebrations

Two Isle of Man students will share a slice of cake with Her Majesty the Queen, when she celebrates her 80th birthday.

Head Girl Alexandra Ionescu from St Ninian's and Head Boy Luke Almond from Ballakermeen were selected randomly by Chief Minister Donald Gelling.

The 17 year olds will join Mr Gelling, First Deemster Michael Kerruish and the President of Tynwald Noel Cringle, at the ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral on June 15.

Mr Gelling says it came about after the Isle of Man received five invitations (audio file attached):
