McGuinness nothces up win number nine

by isleofman.com 3rd June 2006
The man from Morecambe has notched up his ninth TT victory.

John McGuiness (pictured) led the six-lap Superbike race from start to finish in perfect conditions around the Mountain course.

And he broke his own outright lap record speed in the process, reaching 127.93 miles per hour.

Although it seems he thought he could have done even better when Chris Kinley told him about that record (audio file attached).

Second was Ian Lougher (pictured) - his 25th podium finish in the Isle of Man (audio file attached).

And it was first time on the podium for Ian Hutchinson (audio file attached).

There were no serious incidents during the superbike.

Willaston's Barry Wood came off at the 11th Milestone and has shoulder injuries.

Chris Petty from Pontefract had an accident at Kepple and has arm injuries. He was taken to hospital.

There was a lot of debris on the road following that incident which delayed the start of this afternoon's practice session.
