British Irish Council debates climate change

Climate change was on the agenda at the eighth British Irish Council meeting on Friday.

Isle of Man delegates Chief Minister Donald Gelling (pictured) and Environment Minister John Rimington heard an address by UK Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott who spoke about the Kyoto agreement.

B.I.C. members then discussed issues surrounding climate change, and shared ideas and research carried out in the individual countries.

The Environment department here has commissioned a study on the subject.

The Chief Minister says we all have a responsibility to safeguard the planet:
