Jun Maeda dies after TT crash

by isleofman.com 6th June 2006
The Japanese racing star Jun Maeda has died.

He was badly injured after a practice session crash on the Ballahutchin Straight coming out of Union Mills, which also involved Irish rider Saemus Greene. Greene remains in a critical condition in Liverpool's Walton Hospital.

Jun was 38 and came from Kyoto where he owns a motorcycle shop. He first came to the TT in 1997 and his best result was sixth in last year's Senior race. His ambition was to be the first Japanese rider for years to finish in the top three of the TT.

The Manx Motorcycle Club wishes to express it's sympathy to Jun's friends and family. The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
