A long-standing Castletown commissioner has broken his silence on a row which is dividing the town.
It follows the local authority’s decision to reduce support for the Castletown Festival and the Southern 100.
While civic chiefs say the authority has to operate within a limited budget, members of the two organisations are dismayed at the level of the reduction.
As secretary of the festival committee and Southern 100 volunteer, Commissioner Colin Leather has maintained a silence on the issue.
However, after taking legal advice, he says he’s now going to make his views known and, while opposed to the board’s decision, believes the problem is not insurmountable:
