MCN editor responds to criticism

by isleofman.com 8th June 2006
The editor of Motorcycle News has responded to the barrage of criticism regarding an article in the latest edition which slams marshalling at the T.T.

Marc Potter has posted a reply on the iomtt.com forums, where scores of people have made their feelings known against the piece.

It was written by two undercover journalists who signed on last week.

They say they feel marshalling for the T.T is understaffed and unsafe.

Marc Potter says everyone in the MCN office is a massive fan of the T.T, and all they are trying to do is "cut down unnecessary deaths."

He says "you couldn't show up to Wimbledon and sign on as a ball boy without sufficient training, yet the Isle of Man operates a system where you can sign a form, watch a video and then be expected to marshal at one of the world's most dangerous racetracks with very little support."

He concludes by saying "this is simply not acceptable behaviour, and that is all we are trying to highlight."
